As with any new business, even an online business, there are many details to attend to in order to get things up and running. While an internet marketing business has far fewer requirements than a brick-and-mortar business, don’t think you will get off that easy. It still requires some work.
First you must conceive an idea in your mind, then you must put that plan in writing, creating a logical method and realistic time-frame in which to accomplish your goals. Then you begin a step-by-step process of setting up and implementing your system.
Did I say step-by-step? Did I make it sound simple, fast and straight-forward? Well….most times life is just not that simple and straight-forward….not even in internet marketing. Most of you will encounter numerous interruptions, side-tracking events, and more forks in the road than you anticipated. After all, even a dinner fork has five tines, so forks are aplenty!
But that very process is the training ground and obstacle course you must maneuver on the journey to success. Yes, it is a journey. It doesn’t have to be a long one – you can have success rather quickly -but seldom is it an overnight sensation.
All those *overnight success* stories you hear about usually have a far longer story behind them, one of hard work and sacrifice and doubts and fears and all the rest. Then suddenly, you will appear to be an overnight success to everyone else!
But don’t give up, as the rewards are great. When you find you have strayed from your designated path (and you will), get back on track and keep your eyes straight ahead on your goals. As many times as it takes, get back on track and surge forward once more.
Once you make it through the maze of choices, decisions, and learning curves and once you get your blog, website, or landing page, set up, you will be on your way to realizing your goals. The better you can stick to your plan, the quicker you will get there.

I believe it is a must for anyone starting out today to find not only the right tools, but the right people behind those tools. If I met the people I know now in my early years on the net I would be free from the day job by now. Well maybe I would. Unfortunately I like my day job and spend too many hours there helping people.
However it is never too late or too early to start building a foundation for your future.

Ah, yes, the “overnight success”. I think Brian Tracy stated it best when he said -> “Failure, failure, failure … outstanding success! Boy, wasn’t he/she lucky!”
That phrase applies to those that have worked hard, perservered and achieved.
On the other hand … those people that sell “overnight success” well … ya’ gotta’ learn to read between the lines.
Just like there ain’t no free lunch, with rare exception, few achieve “overnight success”.
Although, there have been a few baseball players that have hit a home run in their first major league at bat.
They usually did go through the minor leagues first.
I consider myself a minor leaguerer looking to hit that home run. How about you?
